Visting us

The Barn is open for various activities and events. Check the Events & Workshops page for upcoming events and opportunities to visit.

How to find us

Our address is Winterbourne Medieval Barn, Church Lane, BS36 1SE.

That postcode takes you around the bend from the Barn. If you are looking at St Michael’s Church on the corner of Church Lane, we are a few gates to the left of that. Look out for the wooden double gates which take you into our car park.

Please note we have limited onsite parking with different arrangements for each event – double check each event page for specific instructions (particularly for our large events when the majority of parking will be offsite). We have two accessible parking spaces in the car park. Cars are left at the owners risk.

Getting to the Barn

Cycling
We have a bank of cycle racks in the car park available for those travelling to the Barn by bike.

Walking
Our rural location also makes for a very pleasant walk to an event on a summers eve.

The closest bus stops to The Barn are on the High Street next to the Co-op and Taj Brasserie, approximately a 12 minute walk to The Barn using Church Lane. These stops are served by the Y1, Y2 and Y6 routes.

Accessibility

As a team, we strive to make our events and activities accessible to all. If there is an issue that we haven’t addressed, please contact us so that we can try and come up with practical solutions for improving.

The Barn site

The Barn site is uneven in places, although there are accessible routes through the site. For events taking place in the main building, there are flat and level routes from the car park to the Main Barn, the downstairs seminar room, and the toilets. For any outdoor events, there is paved access to the outdoor toilet facilities but the rest of the outdoor space is grass.

Facilities

There is one accessible toilet in the main building, and one as part of the outdoor facilities. There is a hearing loop for events in the Main Barn and in the Cartshed. Assistance dogs are welcome to all events. We are able to provide table service for refreshments, just speak to a member of the team as you arrive.

Booking tickets

When booking a ticket to an event, please let us know if you would like to reserve an accessible parking space, and / or a wheelchair space in the audience. If you need a ticket for a personal assistant, please book one ticket for yourself and then contact us. We will then issue a complimentary ticket for your companion to accompany you to provide support you need and additional assistance in the event of an emergency evacuation.
