We hope that the pages of the website give you an insight into the organisation, its aims and the many events and activities that we put on at the Barn. To keep this programme going, we are always looking to increase the number of volunteers who help us. If you are interested, please read on to see the benefits of volunteering and the opportunities that are available. A link at the bottom of this page takes you to an application form that can be downloaded, completed and returned by e-mail (volunteerwmbt@gmail.com) or posted to Winterbourne Medieval Barn, Court Farm, Church Road, Winterbourne BS36 1SE and marked "Volunteers" in the top left hand corner. Your time is precious. So when you spend it helping us we promise you will be making a difference. Here are some reasons why you should volunteer :

What could you do :


We have a variety of roles to suit different interests, time, availability and skills. Our current opportunities include :


For those who feel they have leadership skills :

  • • With the support of the Activities Group, organise an event
  • • Organise a team of volunteers to ensure visitors cars are parked in designated areas and occupants arrive and leave the site safely


For those who like to be part of a team :

  • • Help provide and serve refreshments at events
  • • Help set up the Barn site for events
  • • Welcome visitors to the site and take entrance fees (where appropriate)
  • • Help provide activities for children
  • • Assist with car parking
  • • Promote the aims of the Barn to visitors and encourage them to become a Member
  • • Become a First Aider (training will be provided)
  • • If physical activity is your interest join Barnforce (see the link)
  • • If gardening is your interest join the Garden Group (see the Barnforce link)
  • • Sell Barn merchandise
  • • Act as a Guide to visitors (training will be provided).
  • • Search local archives for historic information about the barn, Church lane Conservation Area and local food production
  • • The Trustees of the Barn are always looking for practical skills and knowledge to support the restoration and maintenance of the barn site, including being a Trustee
